December 5th marks International Volunteer Day. The Office for Volunteers has traditionally recognised this important day by hosting the free State Volunteer Congress.
In 2015 and 2016, to complement reporting on the Volunteering Strategy for South Australia, the Congress was transferred from International Volunteer Day to take place during National Volunteer Week in May of each year.
The Congress seeks to play an important role in providing information and discussing topical themes with South Australian volunteers.
Each year a range of speakers are invited to address the volunteer community. Topics have been wide and varied ranging from youth participation to building community capacity.
The Congress is a free event and aimed at volunteers and paid staff who are managing/coordinating volunteer programs or involved in developing the capacity of volunteer involving organisations.
