2010 Volunteers Day

Attendees at 2010 Volunteers Day celebrationsIn 2010, the annual Volunteers Day concert was held at the Adelaide Festival Theatre on Monday 14 June.

The day featured the antics of popular radio identity Mr Peter Goers, from 'ABC Radio 891', as MC and performances by Mitchell Butel and Queenie van de Zandt, direct from the Adelaide Cabaret Festival program.

During the concert, Minister for Volunteers, Grace Portolesi, and the Governor of South Australia, His Excellency, Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AC CSC RANR presented the prestigious South Australian Volunteer Awards:

  • Janice Wallent won the Joy Noble Medal for her valuable contribution to Carers SA and Partners of Veterans.
  • Kelly and Co. Lawyers won the Premier’s Business Award in Volunteering for its strong and long standing support of Minda, one of South Australia’s leading disability organisations.
  • Youthoria Cinema and Café and the Port Lincoln Youth Advisory Committee (pictured) won The Andamooka community project award for their development of a cinema and café operated by young people to provide other young people with a safe place to socialise and to enable the local cinema to continue to operate to the benefit of the wider community.
