Volunteer training grants
As of 1 June 2016, the Volunteer Support Fund and the Volunteer Training Grants are being distributed to not-for-profit community organisations through the new Grants SA program.
The Department of Human Services (DHS) has simplified access to four of its grant programs. The Charitable and Social Welfare Fund, Multicultural Celebrating Diversity one-off grants, Volunteer Training grants and Volunteer Support Fund provided $3 million of one-off funding to community organisations in 2016-17 to support local projects that strengthen communities across South Australia.
Community organisations will be able to apply for grant money with one application form, one set of guidelines with simpler reporting requirements.
Funds will be distributed through major, medium and minor funding rounds. Major grants of $20,001 to $50,000 will be open twice a year, medium grants of $5,001 to $20,000 will be open four times a year and minor grants of up to $5,000 will be open all year round and applications close 5pm on the last working day of every month.
This grant reform aligns with the South Australian Government's commitment to work in partnership with the community to reduce red tape and simplify grant processes.
